I am an individual who worked with this company for 7 years. In April 2007 my work authorization status was changed due to marital (immigration) issues. I immediately informed my employer about these changes and that I may have to take a leave of absence (if granted by them) to get resolved. They granted me this and promised me that apon getting my issue resolved, I may return(no matter how long it took-- I have all the email communication as proof also). After 7 months, I finally received my documentation that I needed to continue working and I contacted them. Up to a few days before I got it(work permit) I still received emails that they were happy everything was going well and that they were anxious for my return. I contacted them and I was directed to the human resourses department where I was told that they made a decision not to re-hire me with no opportunity for me to have due process and sit down to discuss anything whatsoever. I am not sure if I have a case but I am almost sure that these verbal promises that were made before I left(and emails) hold some sort of substance(I may be wrong, I don't know). Seven years of service,no explanation, no opportunity to speak, I know for sure as a manager of this company, I was taught by them that this is not the way. Please advise.
